Christian Education Mission Statement

Christian education is a lifelong experience at Pilgrim Congregational UCC.  We provide a foundation for personal spiritual growth and opportunities for faithful community service, consistent with the missions of our church and the United Church of Christ.  In a joyful and meaningful way, we will:

  • study the nature of God and Christian faith as revealed in Bible stories, through our Sunday school classes, youth group, and adult forum
  • nurture spiritual growth as we share and respect all faith stories, through prayer, discussion groups, and inter-generational activities
  • support a community of faith as we serve others, through worship, music, stories and drama, creative arts, games, nursery care, and mission projects

Curriculum  "Seasons of the Spirit" is an ecumenical Christian resource and represents international congregations such as the United Church of Christ.  Lessons and activities are based on the cycle of Bible readings from the Revised Common Lectionary and the seasons of the church year.  The vision of "Seasons" encourages us to experience the transforming power of Christ through worship, sacraments, education, and missions.

The Christian Education Team offers programs for all ages.
For more information, contact Pilgrim's Christian Education Director (587-3690).

Nursery  Sundays, 9:45 to 11:20 AM, Room 3

Our friendly staff cares for young children (infants to age 2+) in a safe and cheerful environment.  While babies are tended, toddlers enjoy Bible stories, music, activities, and toys.

Sunday School
Sundays, 10:20 to 11:20 AM (Fall/Winter/Spring)

Children begin Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM worship with their families.  After Children's Story with the minister, children in Preschool/Kindergarten, Grades 1-3, Grades 4-5, Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12 enjoy time in their own classrooms with our wonderful teachers for lessons and activities.  Throughout the year, they share communion with the congregation, witness baptisms and confirmations, and participate in seasonal events during worship, such as a Christmas Program, a Palm Sunday Parade, and a Pentecost Spirit Parade.
