Confirmation Class (Grades 9-12)

Meets Six Sundays in the Fall, 6:00 PM, Conference Room

Confirmation is the affirmation of baptism.  Youth have an opportunity to confirm their faith through the Rite of Confirmation offered every Fall at Pilgrim.  Confirmation is the acknowledgement of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit by both the individual and the faith community.  Prior to Confirmation, a series of classes to foster deeper faith formation is offered with Rev. Wagner.  The Rite of Confirmation is celebrated during a worship service and marks the beginning as an active member in the life and mission of the church, the body of Christ. A reception is hosted by the C.E. Team after worship. (excerpts from Affirming Faith, UCC 1996)

Young Adults

The Campus Ministry Task Force invites members of the MSU community - faculty, staff, and students - to Pilgrim for worship and fellowship.  The task force offers several opportunities to get to know other students especially, including pizza nights at Columbo's, and a Parents Weekend reception.  We also publish by email the Touchstone newsletter with topics of interest to the MSU community.  To receive this newsletter and for more information about all our programs contact the church office (587-3690).

FALLING UPWARD Book Study  Led by Sally Babcock.  Conference Room

Mondays, January 9th - February 13th 10:00 AM - Noon

Falling Upward by Richard Rohr, the founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation, offers a new paradigm for understanding one of the most profound of life's mysteries: how our failings can be the foundation for our sacred religious growth. Drawing on the wisdom from time-honored myths, heroic poems, great  thinkers, and sacred religious texts, the author explores the two halves of life to show that those who have fallen, failed, or "gone down" are  the only ones who understand "up."
